# Move, resize, and rotate

> Change position, size, scale, rotation, and the anchor point.

## Move

Drag the selected object on the canvas, or edit **Position** in **Properties**.

## Resize vs scale

* **Width / Height** changes a shape's geometry without changing stroke thickness.
* **Scale** changes the shape and its appearance, including strokes.
* Groups use **Scale** to resize their contents.

## Rotate

Use the canvas rotation handles or **Rotation** in **Properties**. The object rotates around its anchor point.

## Anchor point

The anchor point is the pivot for scaling and rotation.

1. Select the object and choose **Edit anchor point** in **Properties**.
2. Place the anchor point on the canvas or choose a snap position.
3. Choose **Confirm**.

The object keeps its position at the current frame. Preview any existing animation after changing its anchor point, because scaling and rotation now use the new pivot.

## Zero scale

If **X** or **Y** under **Scale** is zero, some edits are blocked. Move the playhead to a frame with nonzero scale, or change the scale before editing. Check parent groups in **Layers** too.

For a layer hidden by a scale transition, move the playhead into its visible part. See [Transitions](/docs/animation/timeline.md#transitions).
