# Keyboard shortcuts

> Shortcuts for drawing, editing, navigating, and animating.

Use shortcuts on the canvas or timeline, outside text and number fields. `⌘/Ctrl` means Command on macOS or Ctrl on Windows/Linux; `Option/Alt` means Option on macOS or Alt on Windows/Linux.

Open **Quick Help** in Studio to view shortcuts while you work.

## Select & view

| Shortcut | Action |

| `V` | Select objects |
| `A` | Enter vector edit mode |
| `H`, then drag / middle-mouse drag | Pan |
| `Enter` / `Shift + Enter` | Select children / parent group |
| `⌘/Ctrl` + click | Select a nested object directly; add `Shift` to toggle its selection |
| `Option/Alt + L` | Collapse or expand groups and timeline tracks |
| `⌘/Ctrl + 0` | Center the canvas at 100% zoom |
| `Space` | Play / pause |

## Draw

| `T` | Text |
| `P` | Pen: click for a corner, drag for a curve |
| `I` / `Escape` | Pick a color / cancel color picking |

## Edit

| `⌘/Ctrl + D` | Duplicate |
| `⌘/Ctrl + G` / `⌘/Ctrl + Shift + G` | Group / ungroup |
| `⌘/Ctrl + Z` / `⌘/Ctrl + Shift + Z` | Undo / redo |
| `⌘/Ctrl + J` | Join open endpoints |
| `Shift + Delete` / `Shift + Backspace` | Delete selected points and reconnect their neighbors |
| `[` / `]` | Move layers one step down / up within their parent |
| `⌘/Ctrl + [` / `⌘/Ctrl + ]` | Send layers to the bottom / top within their parent |
| `Shift + H` / `Shift + V` | Flip horizontally / vertically |
| `Option/Alt` + click or drag a point | Toggle corner/smooth; drag to shape handles |
| `Shift` + drag a point or handle | Constrain movement to fixed angles or its original direction |
| `Option/Alt` + drag a handle | Move the handle independently |
| `⌘/Ctrl` + drag a segment | Bend it without adding a point |
| `Shift` + drag a resize handle | Resize proportionally from the opposite side or corner |
| `Option/Alt` + drag a resize handle | Resize from the center; add `Shift` to preserve proportions |
| `Option/Alt + A` / `Option/Alt + D` | Align left / right |
| `Option/Alt + W` / `Option/Alt + S` | Align top / bottom |
| `Option/Alt + H` / `Option/Alt + V` | Align horizontal / vertical centers |

## Copy appearance

Use `⌘/Ctrl + Option/Alt + C` and `⌘/Ctrl + Option/Alt + V`. For individual fills and strokes, follow [Copy appearance](/docs/shapes/edit-vectors.md#copy-appearance).

## Copy a transition

Use `⌘/Ctrl + C` on the selected transition clip, then paste at the playhead with `⌘/Ctrl + V`. See [Transitions](/docs/animation/timeline.md#transitions) for the full steps.
